FAQs

Our tutors are hand-picked from the UK’s top universities for both their subject expertise and their ability to connect with students. We look for academic excellence, empathy, strong communication skills, and a genuine passion for teaching.

Each tutor goes through a rigorous multi-stage selection process: we verify qualifications, assess subject knowledge and teaching experience, and conduct in-depth interviews to evaluate their clarity, engagement, motivational skills, and teaching style. All tutors are DBS checked and closely supported through their first lessons, with supervision and feedback from senior tutors to ensure they meet our high standards.

We only continue with tutors who demonstrate both mastery of their subject and the ability to inspire and support learners. We’re proud to work with tutors who are not only outstanding in their fields, but also kind, reliable, and open to learning from their students as much as they teach them.

We offer a free 30-minute, no-obligation consultation to understand your goals, timeframe, strengths and challenges, and any preferred learning styles or special requirements. We’ll also ask about your wider interests – whether academic or extracurricular – so we can connect you with a tutor whose own passions or experiences will help motivate and inspire you.

Of course – if you have a particular tutor in mind, you’re very welcome to mention their name when filling out our contact form or during your free consultation. While we can’t guarantee availability due to high demand, we’ll always do our best to match you with your preferred tutor if their schedule allows. If they’re unavailable, we’ll recommend someone equally experienced and well-suited to your needs.

All tutors receive ongoing support and are regularly reviewed to ensure a high standard of teaching. We check in with students and parents to make sure progress is being made and goals are being met. We also make sure lessons feel engaging and relevant to you – whether that means linking topics to your personal interests or drawing on your tutor’s own experiences in areas you care about.

Absolutely. We want every student to feel confident in their learning and look forward to their lessons. If your first tutor isn’t the right fit, just let us know and we’ll connect you with another tutor who better meets your needs, ensuring continuity and a positive, supported learning journey.

All our lessons are one-to-one and delivered via video call using platforms like Google Meet or Zoom. We make the most of interactive tools such as collaborative documents, screen sharing, and digital whiteboards to make each session engaging and effective.

With everything on a computer – notes, resources, and digital tools – students have all they need at their fingertips, making it easier to stay organised and get the most out of each session. Students can send work via email before or after lessons, allowing tutors to provide personalised feedback and address specific questions in real time.

After each session, students receive tailored follow-up materials to reinforce their learning, and the digital format makes it easy to track progress and revisit past lessons whenever needed.

Lessons are usually 60 minutes, but we understand that every student is different. Some prefer shorter, focused 30-minute lessons, while others benefit from more in-depth 90-minute lessons. We’re happy to tailor the length to meet your needs, preferences, and schedule.

Lesson frequency depends on your goals. Many students have weekly sessions for steady progress, while others increase frequency ahead of exams or deadlines, or when working towards specific projects or interests beyond the syllabus. We can help come up with a plan during your free consultation.

Lessons are arranged at times that work for you, including evenings and weekends. We also accommodate students in different time zones, and tutors aim to be flexible when rescheduling is needed.

Yes! We offer flexible scheduling, but we do ask for advance notice – usually 24 hours – to cancel or reschedule without charge. We understand that plans can change, and to respect both your time and our tutors’, our cancellation policy is as follows:

For client cancellations:

  • Cancellations made more than 24 hours in advance incur no charge.
  • Cancellations within 24 hours are charged at 50% of the session fee.
  • Cancellations within 1 hour of the session are charged in full.

For tutor cancellations:

  • If a tutor cancels within 24 hours or fails to attend, your next session with that tutor will be offered at half price.

We understand that emergencies happen. In these cases, exceptions can be made – just let us know as soon as you are able, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your situation.

Most tutors set short tasks or homework to help consolidate learning between sessions. Any assignments are tailored to the student’s goals and schedule, and can be adjusted depending on what else they have on. The aim is to support learning, not to overload, so tutors will work with each student to find the right balance.

Tutors provide regular feedback to help track progress, celebrate achievements, and shape future sessions. This may be given during the lesson or shared afterwards, depending on what’s most useful for the student.

Fill out the short form below to arrange a free consultation. We’ll discuss your goals and how we can help. From there, we’ll recommend a suitable tutor and arrange a first session.
