Safeguarding Policy
1. Policy Statement
InSpire Tuition Online Ltd (trading as InSpire Tuition) is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students, including children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
We recognise our duty of care and will take all reasonable steps to protect learners from harm, abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
This policy applies to all tutors, staff, contractors, and representatives engaged with the company.
2. Purpose
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of students.
To set out clear responsibilities for safeguarding.
To provide guidance on safe working practices, online teaching, and communication.
To outline reporting procedures for concerns or disclosures.
3. Roles & Responsibilities

Tutors:
All tutors engaged by InSpire Tuition must:Follow this policy.
Complete safeguarding training (minimum Level 1).
Report any safeguarding concerns promptly to the DSL.
4. Recruitment & Training
All tutors must:
Hold an Enhanced DBS check (renewed at least every 3 years).
Provide at least two professional references.
Complete safeguarding training (minimum Level 1; Level 2 if appropriate).
The DSL and Deputy DSL will complete specialist safeguarding training (updated at least every 2 years).
5. Online Safety
All lessons must take place via Google Meet or another approved secure platform.
Lessons with under-18s must not be recorded unless there is a specific safeguarding reason and parental consent is obtained.
Tutors must:
Use professional language and maintain boundaries at all times.
Ensure their teaching environment is appropriate (quiet, neutral background, suitable dress).
Only use official lesson links provided directly to students/parents.
Waiting rooms/lobby features may be used if uninvited participants are a concern.
6. Communication Rules
Tutors must not share personal contact details with students.
With under-18s:
Parents/guardians must be copied into all written communication, unless the parent/guardian has provided written permission for direct contact between tutor and student.
With vulnerable adults:
Tutors must respect privacy but maintain professional boundaries at all times.
Tutors must never contact students via social media.
7. Professional Boundaries
Tutors must never:
Form personal relationships with students outside the tutoring context.
Meet students in person without prior agreement from parents/guardians (for under-18s).
Discuss inappropriate or overly personal matters.
Accept or request students on personal social media accounts.
8. Reporting Concerns
Any safeguarding concern (about a child, young person, or vulnerable adult) must be reported to the DSL as soon as possible and within 24 hours.
Reports can be made via email or phone.
Tutors should:
Record what was seen/heard factually (no opinions).
Not promise confidentiality to the student.
The DSL will decide whether to escalate to external agencies (e.g. children’s services, adult safeguarding teams, or the police).
Parents/guardians will be informed unless doing so increases risk to the student.
9. Monitoring & Review
This policy will be reviewed annually or sooner if legislation changes.
Tutors will be reminded of safeguarding responsibilities at induction and on a regular basis.
Non-compliance with this policy may result in termination of contract.
10. Policy Approval
This safeguarding policy applies to all company activities and is effective from: 13/09/2025.
